Screen Sharing

Via Browser Recording

You have several choice as to what you can choose to record when doing a browser recording session. You can share a spefici Chrome or browser tab, Window screen (ie specific open application), or your entire screen (if you have more than one monitor, it will ask you to select which screen). See below for pros/cons of each method.

Sharing a Specific Browser tab or Window

When an instructor selects to share only a specific application window (like a PowerPoint presentation), the recording is tied exclusively to that file.

  • The Issue: Because the recording is locked to that specific window, you cannot seamlessly switch to a different application, like a web browser. If the PowerPoint is closed, the system loses its screen source and automatically stops the recording.

  • The Workaround: If they prefer to record this way, they would need to create multiple separate recordings (one for the PPT and a new one for the webpage) and then use the Video Editor to combine them into a single video later.

Sharing the Entire Screen (Recommended)

To recreate their successful test run and switch between materials on the fly, the instructor needs to select Entire Screen when the browser prompts them to choose what to share.

  • The Solution: When the entire screen is shared, the platform records everything happening on the computer monitor. The instructor can open a PowerPoint, close it, open a web browser, and navigate between as many different applications as they want. Closing a file will not end the recording; it will simply record their desktop until they manually stop the session.

Software Capture

Using the "YuJa Software Capture" tool, you can also grab the entire screen and switch between targeted applications without losing or stopping recording.
