How to Install
Step 1
Scroll down and select the Operating System. Following slides illustrate installation of 64 bit on Windows. NOTE: Can also choose 32 bit Windows or Mac OS.
Hit Download Button.
Step 2
You don’t need to login or sign up. Say No thanks, and just start the download.
Step 3
Click to launch.
Step 4 (For Mac Users Only. Windows Users Skip)
If on a Mac, click the .dmg file in your downloads list.
Step 5 (For Mac Users Only. Windows Users Skip)
Drag the MySql Workbench icon to the Applications portal. This will complete the installation, the program can be found in the Applications folder.
Step 6
Prerequisites needed for MySQL Workbench may be missing. If they are, follow the directions in pop up windows to load the prerequisites. In example below, Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable package needed to be installed first, so click OK.
Step 7
You will automatically be taken to a website that allows to load each of the missing prerequisites individually. So click on Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 since that is what the pop up window said was missing.
Step 8
Read and follow the circled Install Instructions. Following the first step in these instructions, click on the Download button.
Step 9
Click on the version that is appropriate for your computer (in the example below, 64 bit executable was selected), and then click on Next button.
Step 10
Click on the downloaded executable in the bottom left corner to launch the install.
Step 11
A pop up window will appear. Be careful, it may be small and easy to miss. Click the checkbox saying you agree to terms and conditions of usage, and then hit the Install button.
Step 12
Another pop up window will appear confirming successful install of Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable. Click the Close button.
Step 13
Now that prerequisites have been installed, the setup wizard for MySQL Workbench will launch. Click on Next.
Step 14
Accept the default Destination Folder by clicking on Next button.
Step 15
Select the Complete radio button to do a complete install, and then click on Next button.
Step 16
Click Install button.
Step 17
Wait for files to install …..
Click Finish button when install is complete.
Step 18
Click the Windows Icon, and search for MySQL Workbench, and click to launch. If using a Mac, open finder then Applications and double click the MySql Workbench icon.
Step 19
This is the home screen for MYSQL Workbench. We will be using this tool for Modelling, so click on the icon which looks like a Diagram and then click on + to add a new model/diagram.
