Course Navigation Cleanup
What is it?
After your Canvas LMS administrator and Honorlock complete the course integration, you’ll need to tidy up the course navigation menu by removing the Placement app while keeping the integrated Honorlock app.
Why important?
A succinct course navigation menu is essential for online university students, especially those accessing the course on mobile devices. A clean, well-organized menu reduces cognitive load by helping learners focus on the tasks at hand, improves accessibility for students using screen readers or other assistive technologies, and ensures that key course materials — like assessments, assignments, and discussions — are easy to find. By streamlining navigation, instructors create a smoother, more engaging learning experience, allowing students to spend their time learning rather than searching for content. Clear navigation is both a best practice for accessibility and a practical way to support student success across all devices.
How do I do it in Canvas?
After the integration, Honorlock places the integrated app link into your navigation. This action can be confusing as the placeholder app link already resides in the menu.

Which Is Which?
The easiest way to determine which app link is the one you want is to test them. Right click on the app link and open in a new tab. Just remember the order, that you opened them (where they are in your navigation).

Based on your testing, remove the unwanted app link.
Adjusting Course Navigation
To adjust the course navigation menu, select Settings. Then, select Navigation from the top menu.

Remembering the order of the navigation menu you just tested, select the 3 dots, and then select Disable to remove the unwanted app link.

To finish this change, select Save.
Never hurts to check that you removed the unwanted app link. Return to your course navigation, and select the remaining app link.
