Common Classroom Issues

Windows Key () + P

  • The projector may be in extend mode if the projector is displaying the PC, but only showing a blank desktop. To fix this issue, press Windows Key ( ) + P and select Duplicate
  • If still nothing is showing on the projector although everything appears to be correct (ex: projector is on, PC is on, everything is plugged in and correct video source is selected), the PC may be on "PC Screen Only mode". Press Windows + P and select Duplicate to resolve this issue.

Correct Source on the Controller

  • There are multiple source options for the projector. If the projector is not showing the PC correctly, ensure that the user has the correct source selected. If the user wants the PC screen to display, select PC. If the user wants their laptop screen to display, select HDMI

Video Mute

  • Ensure that the MUTE button is not selected. If the MUTE or Video Mute option is illuminated, then press that button to undo the video mute functionality. You should now see an image on the projector.

Is everything plugged in correctly?

  • Most rooms will have a dedicated HDMI running to the PC. There is often a HDMI to Display Port converter on the end of the HDMI. Sometimes, users will unplug this HDMI from the room PC unaware of the extra HDMI that can be used for laptops. If the HDMI is unplugged from the PC, plug the HDMI back in and see if that resolves the issue.
  • Sometimes, users plug the wrong cables into the back of the PC. For example, they may plug in the laptop HDMI or the VGA cable. The most common issue that appears when this happens is that the individual is not able to see the PC. To fix this issue, unplug the incorrect cable and plug in the correct cable.

Correct Audio

  • If the correct image is being displayed, but the audio is not working, try selecting the volume icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. After selecting the icon, a volume bar will appear. If there are multiple sources of audio that can be selected, select the arrow to show all the audio sources. Click through all available sources and test their audio until you select the correct one.
