E. Borrower's Responsibilities for Laptop Use
The laptop and charger provided are the property of La Salle University and are issued exclusively for academic purposes. The use of these devices must comply with the University’s Information Technology Acceptable Use and Privacy Policy, as well as all other applicable University policies and procedures. These items are assigned for the Borrower’s individual use and may not be shared or loaned to others.
By accepting the laptop and charger, the Borrower assumes full responsibility for their safekeeping, including protection from damage, loss, theft, or misuse.
All loaned equipment must be returned to the Help Desk by the assigned due date, unless an extension has been approved in advance by the Director of Technology Support Services. Failure to return the laptop and charger, or returning them with damage beyond normal wear, will result in an incident report being filed with the Office of Student Conduct. Consequences may include ineligibility for future equipment loans and a hold placed on the borrower’s university account. This hold will restrict registration, access to transcripts and diplomas, and graduation clearance until the equipment is returned.
In cases of damage, loss, theft, or non-return, La Salle University reserves the right to charge the borrower the current market value for repair or replacement. These charges will be applied directly to the borrower’s student account.
To avoid penalties, borrowers are expected to keep the laptop in good working condition and promptly report any hardware issues or damage to the Help Desk. Hardware modifications or use of external repair services are strictly prohibited.
La Salle University is not liable for any data loss incurred while using the device. The Borrower is solely responsible for managing and backing up any personal data stored on the laptop.
