What is the La Salle University Shredding Services Program?
La Salle has partnered with Iron Mountain to provide the university with a Shredding Services Program. The Shredding Services Program is designed to allow faculty, staff and students to easily access secure ways of disposing sensitive paper documents. We do this by strategically placing shredding bins in various locations across campus.
What do these bins look like?
These bins look like garbage cans with a lock on them and a small opening to allow for paper documents. Below is a picture for reference.
Where are the shred bins located?
There should be shred bins located in each administrative building across campus. These locations should remain intact and bins should not be removed from these locations as they are tied into a delivery/pick up system managed by Iron Mountain. Bins are located at the following locations:
- College Hall 205
- Union 1st Floor Hallway by the elevator
- Holroyd Hall Basement
- Hayman Hall 1st floor Hallway
- Wister Hall Basement
- Benilde 1st Floor Print Room
- Founders Hall 4th Floor Hallway (left off elevator)
There are other bins located in specific areas that the Procurement department deemed necessary and are not accessible to the public.
How often are the bins emptied?
The bins on the program currently are swapped on a quarterly basis throughout the year. If one bin is full, you may visit any of the other locations listed above to discard sensitive documents.
How do I request a new shred bin location?
A request for a new shred bin location can be submitted via the Procurement Ticketing system under the Shredding Services category of the Services Catalog section. A member of the Procurement department will review the request. The program is sponsored and paid for by the Procurement department. Therefore, funding is provided based on location efficiency. If you believe a location would benefit from an additional shred bin, we encourage you to submit a request for a new bin.
What if I have a request for a special one-time need for shredding?
The program allows for one-time shredding projects consisting of one or many shred bins being delivered to a specific location to use. Examples of this could include a department moving from one building to another and needing to dispose of a large quantity of sensitive paper documents one time. The department can request this through the ticketing system under the Shredding Services category of the Services Catalog section. Please note, special projects fall outside of the Shredding Services Program and the sponsoring department will be charged for any and all expenses incurred.
