Upgrading to Windows 11

About

The following article explains how to install Windows 11 on your La Salle-issued computer without IT assistance. You must opt-in as an early adopter to obtain access to the Windows 11 installation option. Please complete the Pre-Requisites below before installing the Operating System.

Pre-Requisites and Important Notes

  1. Complete the early adopter form to be granted access to the Windows 11 installer-  Windows 11 Early Adopter Form
  2. Back up all of your data to OneDrive, an external hard drive, or a USB flash drive. Although the Windows 11 task will restore user data, we want to be sure that you do not lose data if an error occurs during the installation process.
  3. Review the Knowledge Base article on Windows 11. This contains introduction videos to Windows 11, tutorials, FAQs, and other important information you should make yourself comfortable with.
  4. Prepare to not have access to your computer during the upgrade process, as this may take 2+ hours. Your computer must be physically on campus and connected to an Ethernet cord. If upgrading a laptop, please make sure it is also connected to the power adapter.
  5. If any issues occur during the installation process please contact the Helpdesk for assistance through a Software Issue support ticket or by calling 215-951-1860.

Steps to Install Windows 11

After completing the pre-requisites above, carefully follow the steps below to install Windows 11. 

1. Search for "Software Center" on your desktop search bar and open it up.

 

2. Click on the Operating Systems tab on the left hand side of the window

 

3. Click on the Windows 11 task sequence in the middle of the window.

 

4. Click Install

Windows 11 will begin to install now. This can take 2+ hours, please be patient and do not unplug or turn off your device.
