About
The following article explains how to install Windows 11 on your La Salle-issued computer without IT assistance. Please review/complete the Pre-Requisites below before installing the Operating System.
Pre-Requisites and Important Notes
- Back up all of your data to OneDrive, an external hard drive, or a USB flash drive. Although the Windows 11 task will restore user data, we want to be sure that you do not lose data if an error occurs during the installation process.
- Review the Knowledge Base article on Windows 11. This contains introduction videos to Windows 11, tutorials, FAQs, and other important information you should make yourself comfortable with.
- Prepare to not have access to your computer during the upgrade process. You may update on campus via the ethernet or on VPN at home. The upgrade may take up to 2 hours on campus and slightly longer over VPN based on your WIFI network. If upgrading a laptop, please make sure it is also connected to the power adapter.
- You must have at least 26GBs of space on your device. You can view how much space you have by opening "File Explorer" > clicking on "This PC" > Looking how much space (GB) "OSDick (C:)" has free. If you have less than 26GBs of space free,, please remove any unnecessary files, backing them up to the one drive and removing from your local PC or contacting the Help desk for assistance.
- If any issues occur during the installation process please contact the Help desk for assistance through a Software Issue support ticket or by calling 215-951-1860.
