Action Items

  • Do I need to download or back up anything? Only content that will be archived or deleted according to Panopto’s normal retention timelines. You may download a local copy of any videos you wish to retain. 
  • Will captions carry over, or do I need to redo them? If you edited auto-generated captions in Panopto, those changes will not transfer during migration. It is strongly recommended that you download those captions and upload them into YuJa Lumina after migration.

  • What happens to videos already embedded in Canvas? Will my Panopto links break? Videos will be automatically re-linked in Canvas after migration. In most cases, no action is needed unless you notice a missing or broken link in a Page, Assignment, Module, or other course area. (YuJa Lumina support hub)
  • How do I replace videos in Canvas? Use the YuJa Media Chooser in the Rich Content Editor to replace or insert videos in Pages, Assignments, or Discussions.   • How do I embed a YuJa video in Canvas? Insert videos using the YuJa Media Chooser in the Rich Content Editor. This is the standard method for adding YuJa media directly into Canvas course content. (Embedding Content in Canvas Using the YuJa Media Chooser)
  • How do I add videos to Modules? Add YuJa media directly to Modules or through Pages linked in Modules. Faculty can continue organizing course flow through Modules without needing a separate process. (Adding Lumina Media to Canvas Modules)
  • What if YuJa is not showing up in my Canvas course? This is usually a course setup or integration issue rather than something the instructor did wrong. If YuJa is missing from course navigation, review the Canvas access steps first and then contact support if needed.   • Will my existing videos disappear? No. Your videos will remain available in YuJa after migration, so faculty should not need to re-upload or recreate existing media just to keep access. (Using Manage Media)
  • Will students lose access during the transition?
    No. Students will continue to access course videos through Canvas once migration and linking are complete, so this should not create a new access step for them. (Getting Started within the Video Platform through Canvas)
  • Do I have to re-record anything?
    No. Existing recordings can be reused, and faculty should not need to recreate media that has already been migrated successfully. (Using Manage Media and Video Tutorials: Uploading Media)
  • Where do I upload videos to YuJa?
    Upload videos through the YuJa platform in Canvas. This is mainly relevant for new recordings or content you want to add after migration, not for media that is already being moved over. (Using Manage Media and Video Tutorials: Uploading Media)
  • What happens to analytics (views, engagement data)?
    Analytics will be available in YuJa going forward, but prior Panopto analytics should not be assumed to carry over into the new platform.
