This article provides detailed instructions for transferring email messages, contacts, and other items from an old Outlook account to a new or existing one on a Mac. If you have already exported the .olm archive file using a Mac device, follow the steps below to successfully import the data file into your new Outlook account.
NOTE: Importing emails on a Mac can only be done using Legacy Outlook, a version that must be chosen if you are using the new Outlook application.
Steps for Importing Outlook Emails on a Mac
- Open the Outlook desktop application. Sign in to the email account where you want to import the files.
- In the Outlook application, select Tools > Import.
- In the Import window, select Outlook for Mac archive file (.olm). Then, click Continue.
- Locate the .olm file on your Mac, and then select Import.
- Once your data has been successfully imported, you will get a confirmation window. Select Finish.
