Your LUNA (La Salle University Network Access) account is used to access various services, such as WIFI, Microsoft 365 services, the mylasalle portal, and more.
Steps to Activate a New LUNA Account
- An email will be sent to your personal email address associated with your student or employee record at the University. The email will come from helpdesk@lasalle.edu and the subject will be "Welcome to La Salle University". If you didn't receive the "Welcome to La Salle" email, and you already checked your spam/junk folders, call the Admissions office (215-951-1500) to check if the alternative email address you provided was entered correctly or contact the IT Help Desk.Click on the link in the message to start the First Time User setup process. Alternatively, you can go to my.lasalle.edu and click on the First Time User link under the login box.
Note: The screen shot below is an example. The specific email for students and employees will vary.

- On the Reset Password page, click the Claim My Account button.

- On the Claim Account > Step 1 page, enter your new username (the La Salle username found in the Welcome email), Claim Code (also found in the Welcome email), and your Birthdate (the format has to be specific. If your example, your birthday is March 27, 2023, you would enter "2023-03-27" including dashes). Check the Terms of Use. Then click Next.

- Next, on the Claim Account > Step 2 page, create your password. Enter it twice and click Next.
NOTE. LUNA account passwords MUST meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 14 characters.
- Include an uppercase and lowercase letter.
- Include at least 1 number.
- Include at least 1 symbol.
- Not include the # or - symbols in your password.
- Not include part of your name or username
- (i.e. if your username is smithj1@lasalle.edu you cannot use 'smi' or 'mith' in the password).
- Not include a common word or commonly used sequence of characters.

- You have activated your LUNA account. To finish, add at least 3 security questions from the provided pre-desifned set. Once these options are set you will be able to reset your own password without needing to call the Helpdesk. Answr at least 3 of the questions and click Next. You are all set.


- After completing the security questions, it will take you to a screen similar to the one below. This is NOT the page you need to be on to access your La Salle dashboard nor set up Multifactor Authentication. Follow the next steps to do so.

8. In your preferred browser (Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.) type in the URL of my.lasalle.edu in the search bar. It will take you to the page below: 
9. Type in your full La Salle email address that you received in the Claim Your Account email
10. You will be prompted to type in your La Salle password. This will be the password you set when you Claimed Your Account. If you do not remember your password, please reset it by following the instructions here

11. Once you enter your password and click Sign in, you will be prompted with the screen below. This is the start of setting up your Multifactor Authentication methods

12. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone device. It can be found in the App store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android.

13. After clicking Next, you will be prompted with the screen below. Click next again.

14. After clicking next, you will be promoted with a screen with a QR code (only if you are doing this on a Laptop or Tablet device). DO NOT scan the code with the built in QR scanner on your phone.

15. Open up the Microsoft Authenticator on your phone and click on either the plus sign (+) on the top right and select Add Work or School Account

16. Select the Scan QR Code option and scan the QR Code present on your Laptop or Tablet device

17. After scanning your QR code, you should see your La Salle account populate in the Authenticator App. You can then click Next on the current screen being displayed on your Laptop or Tablet device and it should send a notification to your phone asking you to input the two digit code shown on your screen.

18. Once you have Authenticated the login, you should see the screen below confirming that Multifactor Authentication has been setup

19. Once you click Next, the following screen will show up. This is up to your preference but it is recommended to choose Yes if the device is a personal device that others will NOT have access to. This will reduce the number of Authentication attempts you will have to do when attempting to access your La Salle dashboard.

20. Once you select your preferred option, it will take you to your La Salle dashboard where you can access everything La Salle.

FAQ
- I did not receive the Welcome email with my LUNA username.
Check your spam/junk folder. The message can get filtered by various email carriers, especially if you are using a high school or corporate email address. If you have verified that the message is not in your spam or junk folders, we might not have the right personal email address for you. Please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
- I already activated my account but I forgot my password.
Go to my.lasalle.edu and click on the Forgot Password link to answer your security questions and reset your password. If you are unable to reset it yourself, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
