How to Import Emails into Outlook on a Mac Device

This article provides detailed instructions for transferring email messages, contacts, and other items from an old Outlook account to a new or existing one on a Mac. If you have already exported the .olm archive file using a Mac device, follow the steps below to successfully import the data file into your new Outlook account.

NOTE: Importing emails on a Mac can only be done using Legacy Outlook, a version that must be chosen if you are using the new Outlook application.


Steps for Importing Outlook Emails on a Mac 

  1. Open the Outlook desktop application. Sign in to the email account where you want to import the files.
  2. In the Outlook application, select Tools > Import

     
  3. In the Import window, select Outlook for Mac archive file (.olm). Then, click Continue

     
  4. Locate the .olm file on your Mac, and then select Import

     
  5. Once your data has been successfully imported, you will get a confirmation window. Select Finish.
